“ I've seen reviews talking about the long wait, but we did not have that experience. I think the fact that we made a reservation helped tremendously. We came on a busy Saturday night, and yet we were seated promptly and served quickly. Even though they warned us about a long cook time for the pizzas, the food came out right on time. Make a reservation on OpenTable. All of the staff was super personable and welcoming, from our server all the way up to the owner himself. Even servers who weren't assigned our table would thank us for coming in or tell us to enjoy our meal. The owner, Tony, introduced himself to us after we finished our meal and made some small talk while he cleaned our table. Super nice vibes in there. Oh, and the pizzas were awesome. Deluxe Pepperoni is the way to go. The Gabagool is also good, but not exactly my cup of tea. Both the grandma crust and the New York crust are spectacular. We didn't try the cracker (Chicago tavern style crust), but I'm sure that's great, too. ”

“ Let's talk about Professor Pizza . This is a gem in old town, highlighted with the Italian flag on the steps leading up to the entrance and a rustic interior, it's a Chicago destination. Lively atmosphere, kind wait staff, and food well worth the wait. I had the Pepperoni in Grandma Style, and it was some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. If this isn't a top 5 pizza place in Chicago, I don't know what is. The only gripe for most would be the wait time, but when you get the serving, even on a 12 inch, it's more than enough. I highly recommend this slice of heaven if you're in Old Town and craving a new and adventurous pizza feast. ”

“ Overall excellent pizza. The Humboldt pie on tavern style worked really well as a combo and I love the light and airy grandma style crust. I still haven't had the Detroit style, but am confident it's a homerun as well. I think this is a top 5 pizza place in the city. The wedge salad paired well with the pizza. ”

“ professor pizza provides a really lowkey vibe to enjoy some really good food. the music is always super good, the bartenders i’ve met are all super friendly, and I cannot get over their pizza. i’ve always been the type to love a tavern style and not stray away from that, but when i had the grandma style crust here, i about died. it’s so crispy but has the perfect chew. their vodka pasta is rich and delicious. if you like mozzarella sticks and onion rings, they’ve got the perfect item for that. if want some great pizza/food, good drinks, and good service, you need to come here!!! ”

“ My new fav. We got the grandma style pizza with sausage, peppers, and added the whipped ricotta. It was amazing. The toppings and super crispy crust really put it over the edge for me. I absolutely loved the little sweet peppers they put on top. It was on the sweeter side which I usually prefer. My husband was not a fan though but my new #1. Staff was super nice too. Went on a Friday afternoon and we were the only ones in there. 10/10 ”

“ WHAT A GEM. This is definitely the best pizza I’ve had in the area, a local favorite in Old Town. Recommend the deluxe pepperoni, I didn’t know I’d like the hot honey, pepperoni, and ricotta combination so much. Service was really friendly, talked to the various servers as well as the owner himself. Classic neighborhood pizza joint vibes. Looking forward to going back soon to try the other pizzas. ”
